  • +What information do I need to provide for a search? Searching is performed on the individual's United States Social Security Number (USSSN) and last name. A search can also be invoked without providing a USSSN. If a USSSN cannot be provided, each search record must contain:
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Street Address
    • City
    • State
    • Postal Code
  • +What formats can requests be submitted as? We can accept the search request data in MS Excel Spreadsheets, Text File, or through a Web Service call. An optional CaseKey attribute can be included in the request to bind the results of the search back to a unique identifier in the originating system.
  • +Is batching supported? Yes. We can accept multiple search requests in a single file.
  • +What happens if I have an incorrect USSSN or missing USSSN? At the time of processing, we will examine each record to determine if a valid USSSN was provided. If the required USSSN is not provided, or is invalid, Quandis will locate the USSSN through our internal search provider using the additional information provided in the request. Each individual USSSN search result will receive a Military Search result and report.

Example: Jim Smith at 123 Main Street may return J. Smith, Jim A. Smith and Jim Smith at 123 Main Street

Quandis will perform a search and provide Military Status search for all of them. But since only one name was requested to search, we only charge for one search.
  • +What information is returned from the Search and in what format? The data fields that are returned will be:
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Servicer Begin Date - Date the individual began their military service.
    • Active Duty Status - Active Duty, Discharged, Not Found, Undetermined, Error
    • Active Duty End Date - Date the individual was discharged from their service branch.
    • Service Agency - Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, etc.
    • In addition we also provide a copy of the time and date stamped official Military Status Report that is provided on the Department of Defense website for each individual search in a PDF format. All other search result data mentioned above is provided in an electronic format that is suitable for importing in various case management systems.
  • +When can I expect my Search results? Search results are returned with 24 hours of the initial request to search.
  • +What are the statuses I can expect back from the Search? The Military Status Report will return one of the following results:
    • Not Found - Indicates no Active Duty information could not be located based on Contact SSN and last name.
    • Active Duty - Indicates Active Duty information was located based on Contact SSN and last name. This is considered a match.
    • Undetermined - Indicates Active Duty information was located based on Contact SSN and last name. However, there is a mismatch between the last name and SSN and therefore the result is undetermined. Generally speaking, this type of match requires further manual investigation.
    • Error - Indicates an error was encountered b when searching Contact SSN and last name. DOD generally returns this error when the SSN appears to be in a fictitious pattern.
    • Discharged - Indicates Active Duty information was located based on Contact SSN and last name. However, the contact shows a discharge date.
  • +Is the information that is transmitted secure? We provide 128-bit SSL encryption of all information, including names, addresses and social security numbers.
  • +What is the cost of your Military Search Service and how do I get started? Please contact Quandis for more information, pricing, and to get started right away.
